Nintendo eShop reveals release date for Spelunky 1 and 2 on Switch
In December last year, Spelunky 1 and 2 were revealed for the Nintendo Switch. The launch period was announced for summer 2021, but no firm release date was given. Considering that summer is coming to an end, it’s time to know the date. Luckily, the release date and price for both Spelunky games have been officially revealed, and the wait won’t be very long.
According to the Nintendo eShop game pages for Spelunky and its sequel Spelunky 2, both games are set to release on Switch on August 26, 2021. Spelunky will cost $9.99 while Spelunky 2 will lighten your wallet by $19.99.
For the uninitiated, here is a short synopsis of Spelunky 1:
“Spelunky is a unique platformer with randomly generated, fully destructible levels that provide a challenging new experience every time you play. Travel deep underground and explore fantastic locations filled with all kinds of monsters, traps and treasures You’ll have total freedom as you navigate the fully destructible environments and master their many secrets. Stay or flee, kill or rescue, shop or steal… in Spelunky, the choice is yours and so are the consequences!
In the meantime, here’s the synopsis for Spelunky 2 courtesy of the game’s eShop page:
“Meet the next generation of explorers as they find themselves on the Moon, in search of treasure and missing family. Spelunky 2 builds on the unique random challenges that made the original a classic, offering a massive adventure designed to satisfy players old and new. Explore the game alone, play locally with up to four players, or, for the first time, join friends online to unravel its mysteries together (or compete in competitive Arena modes).
The world of Spelunky 2 is even denser than that of the original game, offering more areas, characters, traps and objects, as well as new ways to interact with them (and for them to interact with each other). others). The world has expanded in other ways too, with branching paths and multi-layered levels adding a third dimension to classic 2D platforming gameplay.
