While the re-release of Advance Wars 2 on the Wii U Virtual Console might turn some heads, the biggest games this week are Nindie games on the Wii U eShop. The Bridge is a crazy logic puzzle game with a enchanting black and white hand-drawn art style and mind-blowing challenges. Woah Dave, which was also released for 3DS, is also coming to Wii U, bringing its arcade style to Nintendo’s home console. The 3DS is boosted by two robotic games. Little Battlers eXperience launches tomorrow, bringing the TV series to 3DS with customization and robot combat. Plus, 3D Gunstar Heroes adds another 3D remake notch to Sega’s belt.
3DS retail games
LBX: Little Combat Experience ($39.99)
Nintendo’s first retail release in quite some time, Little Battlers eXperience is the North American debut of the popular Japanese series. The hook is robot customization similar to GameCube/DS Custom Robo games. It features a story mode that features familiar characters from the TV show, as well as six-player local multiplayer with friends.

3D Gunstar Hero ($5.99)
The latest Sega 3D Classic is from the 1993 Genesis game Gunstar Heroes. Developed by Sin & Punishment developer Treasure, Gunstar Heroes is an inventive and awesome side-scrolling shooter with crazy weapons and multiple unique levels. In addition to stereoscopic 3D, the 3DS version adds two new modes, one that doubles lives and one where you can choose the weapons you want.
Wii U Virtual Console
Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising ($7.99)
The 2003 sequel to the first Advance Wars (which is already on Wii U), Black Hole Rising continues the story and chaos of the first game, retaining most of the same gameplay elements. Upon release, IGN thought the game was amazing, but also thought it was just the same gameplay as the original. Considering it’s been over five years since the last Advance Wars game, that’s probably not much of an issue.
Genghis Khan II: Gray Wolf Clan ($7.99)
Genghis Khan II is a strategy RPG created by Koei in 1992 for the Super Nintendo that focuses on Khan’s wrath. It features four different scenarios with varying goals that all boil down to “rule the region/world”. Genghis Khan II also has something of a Rambo First Blood naming situation, as it’s the sequel to Genghis Khan but also the third game in Koei’s line of story-driven strategy games. This is perhaps the most remarkable thing about it.

The Bridge ($9.99)
The Bridge is a puzzle game with a unique art style and tone, as it is, according to the developer, “MC Escher meets Isaac Newton”. This black and white game features a hand-drawn style and 48 different puzzles that include twists on physics, perspective, and gravity. If that’s enough for you, just go watch the trailer. It looks haunting and wonderful.
Factotum ($9.99)
Factotum puts you in control of two robots (or “twin quadruped deck-walking robots”) as you try to solve puzzles to re-ignite your spaceship. This mysterious puzzle game also includes Miiverse stamps, so you can give your game log a cool look and all.
Oh Dave ($4.99)
Woah Dave has been on everything from the 3DS to a bunch of other non-Nintendo systems. Now it’s coming to Wii U, and it’s a cross-buy if you have it on 3DS. Yes, if you participated in Nintendo’s Humble Bundle earlier this year and got Woah Dave on 3DS, you now own it on Wii U. But what is Woah Dave? It’s a wacky arcade-style game from Choice Provisions, the developer who created the Bit.Trip series.
Melon Mortar ($5.99)
Mortar Melon is basically 72 levels of shooting watermelons out of barrels like they’re DK and Diddy in Donkey Kong Country. This physics-based puzzler uses touchscreen controls and also features unlockable Miiverse stamps and online leaderboards.
Crab Cake Rescue ($7.99)
Crab Cakes Rescue is a puzzle platformer where you control a seemingly endless wave of crabs who must avoid beach hazards and enemies. However, sacrifice is the name of the game, as you must deliberately kill crabs to create platforms to clear each of the nearly 100 levels.
