Playstation, Sega and Nintendo games are worth more than you think

If you still have old games from an old console, you could be sitting on a treasure trove worth hundreds of pounds.

The retro gaming market is growing rapidly and fans are searching the internet hoping to find classic games from the past 25 years, The Express reports.

One of them – a limited edition version of the GameBoy Color adventure The Legend of Zelda Oracle of Ages and Seasons – is now worth £2,657. It was previously valued at £1,807.

PriceCharting, a source for retro game enthusiasts to track the value of older products, reports that several vintage Nintendo, Sega, and PlayStation games have recently seen sharp price increases.

The game with the second highest price increase in the UK is the rare Sega Saturn adventure Panzer Dragoon Saga, which saw its value increase from £242 to £405.

This cult classic RPG was released in 1998 and faced stiff competition for gamers’ attention in a stacked year that saw the release of The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Resident Evil 2 and Metal Gear. Solid.

PS1 title Cindy’s Fashion World, meanwhile, saw its price rise to £896.

Other standout titles include PS1 titles Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Klonoa Door to Phantomile, and Clock Tower, which for years have been extremely valuable and sought after by collectors.

  • The Misadventures of Tron Bonne PAL Playstation – £202.42 (up from £137.38)
  • Deep Fear PAL Sega Saturn – £316.30 (up from £135.94)
  • Keio Flying Squadron 2 PAL Sega Saturn – £274.05 (up from £121.08)
  • Skylanders Imaginators: PAL Nintendo Switch Starter Pack – £172.94 (£114.29 increase)
  • Michigan: Report from Hell PAL Playstation 2 – £195.57 (£111.16 increase)
  • Saturday Night Slam Masters PAL Sega Mega Drive – £178.44 (up from £107.70)
  • Klonoa Gate to Phantomile PAL Playstation – £151.32 (£102.02 increase)
  • Clock Tower PAL Playstation – £160.80 (up from £99.22)

Elsewhere, other Saturn games that have seen their price spike recently include survival horror Deep Fear and cute platform shooter Keio Flying Squadron 2.

In terms of newer releases, Garou Mark of the Wolves Ultimate Grant Edition for the PS4 has also seen its price increase from £137 to £340.

These prices are for the PAL – UK and European – versions of the games.

Prices for retro games can change from region to region, so the value of Japanese or American versions of games can be quite different.
