Nintendo is ending Nintendo eShop support for the 3DS and Wii U
Nintendo has announced that Nintendo Switch eShop support will end for Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii U in March 2023.
This means that from March 2023 you will no longer be able to make eShop purchases on the 3DS or WiiU. This includes purchases of games, Virtual Console titles, and also purchases in 3DS software such as Nintendo Badge Arcade, StreetPass Mii Plaza, and the Theme Store.

- As of August 29, 2022, it will no longer be possible to use a Nintendo eShop Card to add funds to an account in Nintendo eShop on Wii U or Nintendo 3DS family systems. However, it will still be possible to redeem the download codes until the end of March 2023.
Users who link their Nintendo Network ID Wallet (used with Wii U and Nintendo 3DS family of systems) to their Nintendo Account Wallet (used with Nintendo Switch family of systems) can use the shared balance to purchase content on any of these consoles until the end of March 2023. After that, the balance can only be used to purchase content for the Nintendo Switch family of consoles.
No changes are planned for the Nintendo eShop on the Nintendo Switch family of consoles.
Changes to Nintendo eShop on Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems will take effect simultaneously in the software on these platforms where purchases are possible, such as StreetPass Mii Plaza, Theme Shop and Nintendo Badge Arcade.
