Nintendo Games Update: Good news for SNES Classic Mini and Switch console owners | Games | Entertainment

For those lucky enough to own both a SNES Classic Mini and a Nintendo Switch, the perfect device will be released very soon.

A new games controller is being released which is said to be compatible with both gaming machines making it easier to switch between the two.

8Bitdo launches its SF30 Pro controller soon, which can be used to play games on Nintendo Switch, Windows, macOS and Android platforms.

“The SN30 Pro is the world’s first full-featured retro controller,” reads the site’s official description.

“It has a full set of buttons with clickable joysticks, rumble vibration², motion controls, wireless Bluetooth, rechargeable battery, home and screenshot buttons, and a USB-C connector. Not to mention… a proper d-pad.

“8Bitdo controllers are designed to be as versatile as possible with each of your modern devices. Easily pair your controller as an X or D input device via Bluetooth.

“You can even use it as a wired USB controller with the included USB cable. We regularly update the firmware with new system compatibilities like Nintendo Switch, Raspberry Pi, Retron5 and more.

Although the SNES Classic Mini is not among the compatible devices, it may be because an 8Bitdo retro receiver will be required for wireless gaming.

“The RR for NES will also work with the SNES Classic with a firmware update that we will release soon,” 8Bitdo confirmed to Polygon few months ago.

This will also help solve the problem with existing wired controllers being a bit short for those with a SNES Classic.

This week also saw the return of the SNES Classic Mini to stores in the UK.

New GAME stores tweeted today that they have SNES Classic Mini stock available for purchase over the counter.
